St. Francis DFL CU-17 Minutes from July 20, 2006 Present: Ray Steinke, Kathy & Mike Minkler, Deb Sundberg, John Hane, Carole DuBois, Melissa Jabas, and Karen Strike from SD-17. Meeting called to order at 7:08 pm Date of meeting change to 3rd Thursday’s, Ray reserved room at St. Francis High School. Approve amended agenda, Kathy moved and Mike 2nd, carried Approve May 23 minutes, Mike moved and Melissa 2nd. Motion carried. Approved treasures report, report was handed out; Ray reported that Isanti County Unit 17A will be sending $527 for our picnic, John moved and Deb 2nd, carried. Sept 10th picnic: There are 4-5 volunteers from Isanti that will help. Need gas grills (sounded like we have them). Ray will check with Rum River Inn to hold a committee for Aug. 10 from 6-8 pm. Meeting is for planning and label post cards. Plan on Hamburgers, hot dogs with buns, potatoes salad, beans, water, coffee and cookies. Will need to rent tent, tables, chairs, and banners with DFL. Patty Wetterling will be there. Chisago Co. picnic Aug 12 at North Branch, main speaker Al Frelken. Each candidate limit to 3-5 minutes, so they mingle with the people Partner with other units – missed going with Anoka Co. Ray will contact SD 48 to see if they would like to participate in Sept. 10 picnic. Action with Christ King Sept 23rd. Fund Raising – Picnic General discussion – Gants up to $1000 from DFL Affirmative Action Small Grant Application, with match to serve underserved populations. Get out the vote campaign. Motion by Kathy, Melissa 2nd to apply for a grant of $400 and we pledge $100, carried. Deb will apply for the grant for door hangers. Melissa motion, John 2nd to apply the $525 from Isanti for our picnic and add $100 from our funds, carried Melissa gave an update of her campaign.
